How can I match painted metal chairs with a wooden table?
Budget is pretty low right now and I'm trying to find creative ways to give a face lift to our apartment. I have a nice wooden table which I want to use in my dining room as I do not have a dining table. The table is a golden pecan color. I also have 4 metal chairs which were originally red and have been painted over in black sitting aside on by back balcony and not being used. I've bought lovely beige tie pillows for the chairs and am thinking of painting them in the same color as the table. The table will sit next to my open plan kitchen and the color of the wood matches my kitchen perfectly. I have stainless steel kappliancesliences. Should I paint my chairs in an aluminum color or try to match it to the tables wood color? Any other ideas?

hi, if it were me then i would partially paint the chairs and the table to match, if the table is wood then just add a little paint for example if you have a round table maybe you could draw a line around the inside of the table and then paint the line in chrome or what ever tickles your fancy? personally since you are on a budget then i would paint the chairs and the table white and then go from there? unfortunately since your on a budget this is all you can do to make things match. i suggest putting some money away every time you get any, that way you can go buy your matching table and chairs that you like!
hope this helps you and good luck!
I think I prefer not matching the chairs to the table. Sometimes, when people opt to try to match, it makes the difference stand out in a not so nice way. It might look like you tried to match but failed. If, on the other hand, you choose to not match, say paint them black, it looks more like a deliberate attempt to put something different there - a desired look - something you planned. The other option, is to sew or buy inexpensive slip covers that slide over the metal chairs. This is often a really good plan if the chairs are very different in style, material and design from the table. If you like how the style of the metal chairs looks with the table then just paint them. If you don't think the metal chairs look "right" with the table, cover them. Gone are the days when dining sets had to be a "matched set." Different color chairs are often seen with wooden tables. Best of Luck.
Personnally I do not like things that match

I would rather go for some enlightning color such as white or red or blue or green to paint the chairs
and let the table the way it is.
Depending on the color you like/choose, you can get a -low price- table cloth or do it yourself with some fabric you already have or buy in a antique shop or wherever ( ebay....) ansd match the china you gonna use to treat your friends and family.

It will be more fun and you can change the table cloth easily, often and on a cheap investment.
